We can help you through this difficult process by obtaining the Grant of Probate on your behalf and you intend to administer the estate yourself.

How Much Does This Service Cost?

Just obtaining the Grant of Probate (where you intend to administer the estate yourself)

Total: Fixed Fee £900.00

Breakdown of Costs:

Legal Fees £750.00

VAT on Legal Fees £150.00

Disbursements:

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees.  We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

  • Probate Court Fee of £273.00 (plus £1.50 for each additional copy)

Total Estimated Fees: £1173.00

As part of our fixed fee we will:

  • Provide you with a dedicated and experienced practitioner to work on your matter
  • Identify the legally appointed executors or administrators and beneficiaries
  • Accurately identify the type of Probate application you will require
  • Obtain the relevant documents required to make the application
  • Complete the Probate Application and the relevant HMRC forms
  • Make the application to the Probate Court on your behalf
  • Obtain the Probate and send you copies as required

Please note that the following matters are not included:

  • Intestacy
  • Tax advice
  • Preparation of a full IHT400 Inland Revenue account
  • Deed of Variation
  • Statutory Advertisements
  • Any estate administration

If you require advice or assistance in respect of any of these matters we would be pleased to assist and our fees will be based upon a range of hourly rates between £220.00 and £250.00 plus VAT.  We will be happy to discuss fees on application.

How Long Does it Take?

Typically, obtaining the Grant of Probate takes up to 8 weeks.

Probate Full Administration Service

We can help you through this difficult process by obtaining the Grant of Probate on your behalf, collecting in the assets, settle any liabilities and administering the estate on your behalf.

How Much Does This Service Cost?

For relatively straightforward estates that are not Inheritance taxable, fees generally fall within the range of:

Up to £5,000 plus VAT – Total £6000

Disbursements

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees.  We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process. Disbursements incurred in connection with administering an estate are:

  • Probate Registry Fees – £273.00 plus £1.50 for each additional copy of the Grant of Probate or Grant of Letters of Administration
  • Statutory Advertisement Fees – approx. £200-£350 plus VAT
  • Bankruptcy Searches –£2.00 per beneficiary
  • Valuation Fees for Properties and Shareholdings and certain other Investments – these vary in each case and are often dependent upon the nature, value and complexity of the assets.

As part of our fee we will:

  • Identify and correctly value the estate assets and liabilities
  • Identify the Executors/Personal Representatives
  • Identify which type of Grant of Probate or Grant of Letters of Administration is needed
  • Draft the appropriate Inheritance Tax Return/Inland Revenue Account and deal with any HMRC enquiries
  • Draft the Probate Application documents to obtain the appropriate Grant of Probate/Letters of Administration
  • Register the Grant of Representation and collect in the assets, settle liabilities and any other estate administration expenditure
  • Prepare an Estate Account for approval and distribute the estate to the beneficiaries

How Long Does it Take?

Straightforward estates generally take 6 to 12 months to complete.  More complicated estates, especially if there are foreign assets, can take much longer.
